BlueHeronQuilts
I played with discharge dyeing last month.
I used Avlyn Creation's Nature Palette
http://www.avlyn.com/collections/index.php?page=pattern&latest=1&style=5000
"100% Cotton Naturally Dyed fabric. The dyes we use come from plants, vegetables, minerals and some animal products. All are non-toxic, non-allergenic and completely biodegradable and environmentally friendly"
They didn't even have to be scoured!
This was my first foray into discharge dyeing, and they are not very artistic, but it was fun. I used dishwasher gel and rubber stamps, my hands, free form designs.
This could become addictive! See the details:

Katherine, Your work is LOVELY! Thanks for the comment on my blog - no email address was left though. I have work in local galleries and am setting up a website that should be ready this fall. Look in Quilting Arts Gifts available in September for an article, and subscribe to my blog for updated exhibits and shows. My good friend Evelyn whose quilt was on the cover of QNM this month lives in your state...
